And the baby bust of 2020 was, of course, an acceleration of a fertility decline that began with the Great Recession more than a decade before.
Some trends didn’t shake out exactly as I anticipated three years ago: The decline of newspapers, for instance, continued on trend but didn’t actually accelerate.
